Sakku Investments Corporation has been awarded $2.5 million from the Government of Canada to advance our SIC Rooftop Solar and Battery Project.
This project represents an important milestone—not only for Sakku, but for Nunavut. By demonstrating the territory’s first solar and battery system capable of operating both with the local microgrid and independently, we’re helping pave the way for more resilient, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions in the North.
As an Inuit-owned organization, we’re proud to be leading innovative projects that reduce diesel dependence, build local expertise, and support a stronger, more sustainable future for Nunavut. This project is another example of how Inuit-led innovation is creating practical solutions that strengthen our communities today while building a more sustainable future for generations to come.
